Day 1: My Best Friend

In my life, I’ve had a lot of ‘best friends’. Let’s face it—from kindergarten to 6th or 7th grade, relationships have a shelf life of about, hm, a year or so. Maybe two. Depending on the person.

None of them have been closer to me, know more about me, or are more supportive than Marybeth Raymond.

We started out not liking each other very much. We went to the same middle school, and went through the ‘awkward years’ at opposite ends of the adolescent earth. Different friends, different styles, different interests—we didn’t really intersect anywhere.

However, come High School, we did find common ground, and we got to know each other better. And, what do you know, we hit it off!

She has been the one constant thing in my life for the past two years. She has been there to cry, to laugh, to talk about pancakes and flipping flags. She’s seen me at my best, and at my worst.

She’s awesome and I love her.
